This catalog of scores is a resource to invite movement into your personal practice.

More Information about how you can work with scores:

  • CSD defines the word “score” as a set of instructions or prompts used to guide a movement improvisation.

  • You can also use scores to create movement phrases and choreography.

  • There is no correct way to move through a score. All choices and interpretations are valid.

  • Unless explicitly defined by the score you should…

    • Decide the space you’d like to move in

    • Go at your own pace

    • Decide if you would like to add music or sound

  • A few more tips…

    • You can have the score clearly visible while you are moving through it as a reference. You may want to write it on a piece of paper so you can see it while you’re moving.

    • OR you can move through the score from memory. It’s okay if you don’t remember every part. What you do remember made an impression, and you can trust that instinct.

    • You can also simplify the scores if that’s more comfortable. For example, shorten a sentence to a word or two so it’s easier to remember or clearer to embody.
